The news was first reported by Deadline and confirmed by Green in a post on Twitter. In her tweet, she said that 2006 Tomb Raider: Legend is her favorite “classic era” game in the series and that 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider is tied with 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider as her. favorite in the current series.
My favorite from the classic era is Legend and from the survival era it’s a tie-in between Rise & Shadow. So I think of something like:
* whispers * Who’s as excited as me for a @TombRaiderMovie!?!? # Grave plunderer– Misha Green (@MishaGreen) 25 January 2021
Green is not only the showrunner behind Lovecraft Country, but also wrote every episode of the show’s first season and directed one episode. Green has yet to write or direct a feature film, but Deadline said Green recently wrote a movie, The Mother, which Netflix won after fierce competition with rival studios.It’s unclear why Wheatley is no longer involved in the project. The filmmaker got busy making a horror film during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Empire. This film is slated for release in 2021. Variety says Wheatley is also set to helm The Meg 2 with Jason Statham.
Details are slim regarding the sequel to Tomb Raider. All that is known at this point is that Vikander will reprise his role as Lara Croft from the first film.
The first Tomb Raider movie starring Vikander was released in 2018. Captain Marvel screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Small Ax writer Alastair Siddons wrote the screenplay directed by Roar Uthaug. IGN rated the film 5.5 out of 10 in our review. We said that Tomb Raider “fails to develop any interesting characters or motifs, but at least gives viewers some fun action.”
On the other hand, Lovecraft Country has been nominated for IGN’s Best TV Series of the Year.
Green says that she has been in contact with HBO regarding Lovecraft Country Season 2, but nothing is official yet.
Petey Oneto is a freelance writer for IGN who highly recommends Lovecraft Country. It’s one of the best TV shows in a long time.
