Ubisoft Massive Star Wars Job Posting: Game Details Hint

Following the news that Ubisoft Massive – the studio behind The Division series – will be developing a Star Wars open world game with Lucasfilm Games, the company updated several job offers for its Star wars Project, with tips on what to expect. The work of Ubisoft Massive recruitment page has been updated following the big Star Wars news this morning. The page now lists several jobs in various departments of gaming, art, production, animation, and more.

While details on Massive’s upcoming Star Wars game remain sparse – announcing only that it is a story-driven, open-world adventure – the job postings point to some areas of interest that developers are looking.

For example, in Massive’s list for Senior Progression Game Designer, the studio is looking for applicants with an “absolute passion for playing and creating games, especially role-playing and action-adventure games” as well as “experience. proven to work with progression and balancing systems[.]“Massive’s previous series, The Division, was an RPG shooter with live-serve elements, loot, and RPG-style progression. Could these items appear in Massive’s Star Wars game? There is at least one role for advancing experts at the studio. A List for Senior Writer seeks candidates qualified in “researching and writing narrative material to anchor a reality-based narrative into existing intellectual property.” , which we now know to be Star Wars.Source: Massive. The ‘reality-based’ narrative element seems to hint at the tone Massive is looking for when it comes to its Star Wars project, although without concrete details these job postings are only superficial.

Earlier today, the new Lucasfilm Games and Ubisoft Massive announced that the two are working on a new Star Wars game. Other than the announcement that it will run on Massive’s Snowdrop engine, details are sparse on the canon Star Wars game.In 2013, EA and Disney announced a multi-year license agreement which gave EA the exclusive rights to publish Star Wars games developed by its internal teams. But Lucasfilm Games will approach it differently, in collaboration with developer partners on the main games.

The games aren’t limited to Star Wars either. MachineGames and Bethesda’s Todd Howard are working on an Indiana Jones game under the umbrella of Lucasfilm Games.
