Smart home platforms are not, by definition, the kind of thing people can live without during extended outages. Wink, unfortunately, shouldn’t have a great store of goodwill with his clients after last year. In May 2020, he abruptly announced that users should start subscribe to a subscription of 5 $ per month plan or their material would just be stopped one week later.
At the time, Wink said the COVID-19-tinged economic climate forced them to take the plunge or else he would be forced to sell user data. Unfortunately, paying for a service increases user expectations, and the long delay and lack of communication can be the cause. last straw for some people.
