Xbox March update rolls out with upcoming Xbox Wireless Headset launch

The Xbox team is excited to continue to provide new ways to make Xbox better with software updates designed to improve your Xbox gaming experience based on your feedback, including both providing you with new features and by refining existing ones. This month’s release includes updates to the Xbox Accessories app ahead of the launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset, new toggles for FPS Boost and Auto HDR for backward compatible games, achievements going to the Xbox app, and improved game management experience.

Personalize your Xbox wireless headset experience on your console or PC

March 16, aligned with the launch of the Xbox Wireless Headset, the Xbox Accessories app on your Xbox One devices, Xbox Series X | S and Windows 10 is being updated. With the update, the app lets you fine-tune audio controls for a personalized audio experience, including EQ settings, bass boost, auto-mute sensitivity, audio monitoring mic and mic mute light brightness. Best of all, the headset can stay up to date with the latest features via wireless updates to your console, ensuring you have a premium audio experience that continues to evolve.

Make sure you install all of the latest Windows updates to take advantage of the audio personalization features on the Xbox Wireless Headset when using the Xbox Accessories app on Windows 10 devices.

Backward compatible automatic HDR and FPS boost settings

In February, Team Xbox ad Backward compatible games got even better with FPS Boost. Choice is extremely important when it comes to choosing how you play your favorite games. So in March, we’re launching our new toggles for FPS Boost and Auto HDR.

In your game management settings, you can choose your compatibility options and enable or disable Auto HDR and FPS Boost. Once you restart the game, your selections will be applied – you can verify this by pressing the Xbox button and checking the indicators below the clock. Not all games support these features, so compatibility options may not be available for your game.

Achievements return to the Xbox app

Achievements are coming back! We’ve heard feedback from fans that our community wants achievements to be integrated into the Xbox mobile app. This month we’re testing a variety of in-app success experiences, starting with a limited number of players and then rolling them out to everyone.

This first update will include an in-app achievement list, achievement details screen, and unlocked achievement notifications. We’ll also be releasing an additional update with popular features like Leaderboards in the coming months.

A new way to manage your Xbox subscriptions

We’re bringing subscription management to the Xbox console to make it easier for customers to see all of their important plan information, including last charge, next charge, end date, and more. It also allows customers to update their credit card or other payment information, learn about all of the different subscriptions available, and change plans. You will find it all in Settings under Account.

TV programs in OneGuide disappear

Based on usage and customer feedback, we’re constantly evolving the Xbox experience. To that end, starting in May, we’ll be canceling Live TV listings for OneGuide on Xbox One. You can continue to use OneGuide to view your connected HDMI devices or your USB TV tuner. You can also continue to use OneGuide for HDMI relay and watch TV through USB TV tuners, but you will not be able to access the onscreen TV listings guide.

Game experience management improves

We have improved the charging performance of the Manage screens in My games and apps. After purchasing a game from the Store with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions | S, the Manage screen makes it more clear which parts of the offering are best for your console if you select Choose what to install rather than just Install everything.
