Located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, you play as a character called Rindo, who is part of a street team called The Wicked Twisters. Your job is to unravel “the mysteries behind the sinister Reapers’ Game”, a weeklong competition to save your soul. As you advance, you’ll face off against other crews and deal with the Reapers of Shibuya and Shinjuku in the process.
Much of the game will be about scanning and fighting noise, the nefarious manifestations of negative emotions that appear throughout Shibuya. When Rindo searches for the noise, they will also be able to see the thoughts of ordinary people in Shibuya.
Much like the first game, players will assign pins to their party members who will change their attack mechanics in combat. In Neo, you will be able to control multiple party members during battle, and each teammate will hold one of the 300 available pins, which can be activated to trigger a special attack.
Pins and threads can be purchased from a variety of stores in Shibuya to improve a character’s stats and abilities, and you’ll need to find a good combination of pins and threads for your team to adapt to the way. which you like to play. Original game composer Takeharu Ishimoto returns for Neo, as does first game protagonist Neku. A hoodie Neku with a new outfit is revealed at the end of the game’s latest trailer.
Players who pre-order the game from PlayStation Store will have access to a set of legendary threads that will improve combat stats, as well as a special set of avatars. Neo: The World Ends With You launches July 27 later this year on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It will also arrive in the Epic Games Store in the summer of 2021.
