WrestleMania 37 Night 2 match ranks

Randy Orton won. The demon

Is there a reason WWE continues to hang on to this feud? The last time these two met at WrestleMania 33, we were treated to a historically bad title match with worms on the mat.

Could they redeem themselves here?

Nope.

An absurd feud seems to continue with a baffling ending where Alexa Bliss turned on The Fiend and her distraction cost her the victory.

The entrees were extraordinarily long. Longer than the match, in fact. Bliss threw a big jack-n-the-box to get The Fiend to stand up. The dreaded red light is back. The Fiend is back not to sell. Anything you didn’t ask for, you got in this game. They kind of fought in a tough game that fans quickly grew tired of.

The arrival came when an RKO attempt was reversed in a mandibular claw. The Fiend went for a sister Abigail but Alexa Bliss appeared with a crown of thorns to distract The Fiend and allow Orton to strike the RKO and claim the victory.

After the game, the lights go out and the crowd rejects with boos.

It was really, really bad.

Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler (c) def. Natalya and Tamina to retain women’s team championship

Much like the women’s tag match the day before, this match was doomed from the start.

Without investment in Natalya and Tamina’s fortune team, it was difficult to convince them to become champions. But you can’t deny that the four women involved didn’t work hard. It just wasn’t a very good game.

They had their moments as a beautiful slingshot from Natalya in a Tamina superkick was impressive, but nothing on Shayna lay in a stiff knee in Natalya’s that apparently did real damage. Other than that, this match dragged on and tried to get everyone invested in the idea that Natalya and Tamina could dethrone the champions. Sadly, that just wasn’t meant to be. There were a lot of swearing from the ladies as Natalya frantically tried to steer the traffic.

Trying to emulate WrestleMania 3 with Tamina bodyslamming Nia Jax for a close fall was … something. Tamina would then miss a Superfly splash.

Natalya then locked the sniper on Nia Jax but Shayna Baszler had been tagged and was the legal wrestler. She ran in it, sank into the naked rear choke, and retained the titles when Natalya passed out.

It’s not a good start for WrestleMania.

Grade: D

Kevin Owens won. Sami zayn

With the rich history between these two, there was no doubt that they would deliver.

This match was essentially the biggest hits of their packed ROH matches in minutes. And it was absolutely awesome because they got to do it at WrestleMania.

It was an absolute sprint with all of their big moves landing in a hurry. Owens started to catch fire with an electric bomb and was on the assault. Zayn followed him with a brainbuster on the edge of the apron. Owens with an impressive frog splash for a close fall. The action never slowed down. Explosive suplexes, nasty fisherman superplex, and a bundle of piledriver tease were crammed into the game

A Helluva kick from Zayn signaled the homecoming streak as he held Owens for another kick, but was countered with a pair of superkicks. Owens stared at Zayn, hit the stunner and it’s over.

Oh, why was Logan Paul there? To eat an Owens stunner, of course. And that will likely attract the mainstream press.

This match was just a lot of fun between two of WWE’s top talent.

Quality: B +

Sheamus def. Riddle for the United States Championship

Riddle and Sheamus didn’t have much heat going into the game, but made up for it with a hard-hitting game.

Sheamus has quietly had a very good year in the ring and he was awarded the United States Championship.

As for Riddle, it was as if we were moving from his distant “brother” character to something a little more serious as he served up a relentless offense. Everything from a Spanish fly to a top rope and a German suplex on the edge of the apron was detached from Riddle. Unfortunately, Sheamus was up to the challenge and fought back with some of his signature moves.

The end came when Sheamus landed a Brogue Kick as Riddle threw the second string. It was impressive to see Riddle’s mouth burst open as Sheamus picked up the fall. Then Riddle looked at a hole in Sheamus and maybe that’s a sign that the time of the goofy guy who can wrestle is over.

Category B

Apollo Crews def. Big E for the intercontinental championship

If you want to know what a Nigerian drum fight is, well, it has drums, gong, and kendo sticks. I had no idea gongs and kendo sticks were Nigerian, but whatever.

At least they didn’t use the battery during the game. But the gong? The gong has action.

These two worked with what they had by hitting each other with guns and worked in an offensive worthy of a heated feud. The problem with booking this match was that Crews didn’t beat Big E in a singles match and it was difficult to justify a reason for a match at WrestleMania.

The stipulation was awkward, but it was the only way to make sense of it. And, luckily, they gave Apollo Crews the victory they needed at WrestleMania.

Big E hit his spots which included a frightening spear through the ropes and a brutal Uranage on the steps of the ring. But Apollo kept fighting back and put E on the table for a frog splash. E escaped and the crews crashed across the table. It was as if the end was near as Big E hit the Big Ending, but Dabba-Kato – of Raw Underground – made his WrestleMania debut, attacked Big E, and Crews took the win.

The loss doesn’t hurt Big E at all as he remains a fan favorite as Apollo Crews absolutely needed to win in order not to fall into obscurity. It was a relatively short but solid game that did not exhaust its welcome.

Rhea Ripley beats. Asuka for the “Raw” Women’s Championship

Asuka was arguably the worst-run champion on the entire list. Since winning the title, she hasn’t had a notable feud and has often found herself losing out to lesser talent for little or no reason, despite being one of the most talented women. from the list.

For the past few months, it has been like a race to see who will win Asuka’s title. Charlotte fell from what appeared to be a WrestleMania rematch and was replaced at relatively short notice by NXT’s Rhea Ripley, who gets another main roster shot after being whipped last year. Ripley is obviously a star in the making and it was taken for granted that she would get her WrestleMania moment after failing last year at Charlotte.

Ripley sank his teeth into the heel role and was in control for the first part of the game with his power moves. Asuka would bounce back with a missile dropkick and attack her bigger opponent. Honestly, this may have been Ripley’s best game since he faced Charlotte last year. As for Asuka, she has always been one of the best in the world and has had the opportunity to make Ripley look like a million bucks, even when lost.

The action started to pick up when Asuka punched Ripley with nasty DDT from the apron to the ground. Once they returned to the ring, a nice counter-fight ensued and Ripley had his armband reversed into an Asuka lock. But Ripley flipped it into Riptide to get the pin and win the title.

Where does Asuka go from here? Who knows. She is too beautiful to be used as badly as she has. But it’s clear that Rhea Ripley will be a major force on Raw for the foreseeable future.
