The AFL 2021 season opener has been confirmed with Adam Treloar set to face his former team when the Bulldogs face the Magpies on Friday night at MCG.
The opener of the game will be the now traditional Richmond-Carlton encounter on Thursday before Treloar lines up for the Bulldogs the following night.
Treloar was moved by the Magpies on the last day of the 2020 AFL trade period in a move which then saw both clubs at a disagreement over how much of the midfielder’s $ 4.5million mega-deal the Bulldogs would take.
In other round one matches, Melbourne will host Fremantle at MCG on Saturday afternoon as Jeremy Cameron looks to play his first game for the Cats at Adelaide Oval when Geelong travels to face the Crows.
Saturday night’s two games will see the Bombers and Hawks face off at Marvel Stadium, while the Lions, who brought the Bombers forward Joe Daniher to the club during the trade period, meet the Swans in Brisbane.
On Sunday, North Melbourne and Port Adelaide face off at Marvel Stadium, GWS will host the Saints at Giants Stadium as Gold Coast flies to Perth to meet the Eagles.
