Even the most dedicated musicians sometimes have to drop their instruments down, but on YouTube you can listen to a bass solo that goes on and on. Dadabots, who is also behind an endless flow of death metal, used a recurrent neural network (RNN) to create a YouTube stream with an infinite bass solo.
The Dadabots team, CJ Carr and Zack Zukowski, formed the RNN with two hours of bass improvisation by YouTuber Adam Neely. After some trial and error, Carr and Zukowski limited the dataset to mostly faster licks as the RNN likes fast tempos. This has improved the overall sound quality, according to Dadabots, and it means the AI generates a lot of frantic bass.
