Airbnb announced today that it is canceling all reservations in the Washington DC metro area throughout inauguration week. The company will also prevent anyone from making a new reservation during this same period.
Airbnb said it made the decision in response to requests from local, state and federal officials who asked the public not to travel to Washington DC for the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden on January 20. “Mayor Bowser, Governor Hogan and Governor Northam have made it clear that visitors should not be traveling to the DC metro area for the grand opening,” the company said. The company will reimburse all those whose reservations have been canceled. It also reimburses guests out of its own pocket.
