Apple adds podcast collections for kids

helps families find podcasts they can all enjoy with recommendations for kids. The company has partnered with Common sense media to offer organized and child-friendly collections of shows in the USA.

Four collections are available today. Initial bundles include kid-recommended podcasts, mysteries and dramas, story-based shows, and Common Sense’s all-time favorite picks.

Unlike other companies, such as and , Apple does not divide content intended for children into dedicated apps or services. At least for now, podcast recommendations appear on the main carousel of the Apple Podcasts homepage under the Common Sense Media Picks banner. You will find them in the Browse tab on a more permanent basis.

Apple and Common Sense will update the collections each month with themes related to significant cultural and historical moments, such as Women’s History Month and Back to School, according to . There are also age group recommendations for podcasts.

Common Sense offers reviews of movies, TV series, books, apps, games, and of course podcasts focused on their relevance for different age levels. The association already to family-friendly movie and TV collections in the Apple TV app. Podcast recommendations, however, should help provide families and children with another entertainment option that isn’t staring at a screen while they largely stay indoors amid the pandemic.
