The title will add to a rapidly growing stability of Apple TV + movies with major directors and stars. Although it has only a handful of titles to show so far, like Sofia Coppola’s On the rocks and Tom hanks Doggy style, this selection is set to grow rapidly. The Russo Brothers Cherry arrives in March with Tom Holland in the lead role, and Apple recently signed a deal to produce Martin scorsese The flower moon killers with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Musette only serves to expand this list.
It’s a familiar strategy. A lot like netflix and Amazon, Apple is on the hunt for films that will not only attract large viewers, but ideally lead to awards that bolster its prestige and help secure more blockbusters. There is no guarantee Musette will accomplish this feat (Scott’s most recent films have been mixed up), but he may have a better chance than most.
