Luckslinger is a challenging action platformer game with a luck mechanic and a hip hop soundtrack. The gameplay is challenging, letting you savor every point of health you have. It’s about keeping a cool head in hot situations. And looking for style while doing it.

I’m Donald, the game designer of Luckslinger. Our studio consists of a team of 3. After making several small games, we knew we wanted to make something bigger. A full game instead of small demo-type games. So we got together and went through the game idea notes we had, looking for something we liked.

This is where the phrase “a game of luck” appeared. It was written probably a year earlier but never used. We thought we didn’t really know about games that focused on luck as a real game mechanic. So we started to think about what we could do with it, we went for an action platform game with a theme. western. Mainly because we thought this period had a lot to do with luck, especially the harsh environment and the pursuit of gold and wealth. But also because I really wanted to dive into the spaghetti western genre and watch as much of it as possible for inspiration.

After working on a prototype for about a week or two, the gameplay started to take shape. But overall, something was missing. It was a bit boring and needed a bit of oomph. All three of us being hiphopheads, we worked on it while listening to hip hop, somewhere we had to play with a nice track in the background because suddenly everything was fine. It was really cool and cool for us. We knew the Samurai Champloo anime could do samurai and hip hop, so we felt we could do cowboys and hip hop. And so the main idea was born.

As the game is in good condition, we downloaded the PC version from Newgrounds. Where we had a lot of interesting and useful feedback. What convinces us that we are creating something fun. So we continued. We have visited many conventions and meetings in the Netherlands and some in Germany. We were invited by Indiecade to present on E3, which is what we did. It was a truly amazing time, but also an incredibly busy one. It happened quickly! Seeing people play our little creation was wonderful. At E3, I even met one of my heroes, Warren Spector (the director of the original Deus Ex).

After releasing Luckslinger on PC, we made a patchwork and we started to work on a new project. It was then that 2Awesome Studio (whom we had met during the events) told us about the creation of a console version. And There you go!

We hope you will create it. We certainly enjoyed creating it and seeing people experience it.

In Luckslinger, you’ll steal your Lucky Stars – make sure you spend them wisely! Partly inspired by the unrealistic fast guns, dark gritty humor and greed-driven anti-heroes of Western spaghetti classics. Entirely inspired by vinyl digging, graffiti spraying, rhymes and slow jazzy drum samples of hip hop culture and sound. Are you feeling unlucky? In Luckslinger, ride the western bandits, steal their luck, and use it for your good. The luckier you are, the more likely you are to dodge bullets, better loot at your feet, and stay alive. However, when you are “” unlucky “” in your trusty bracelet, bridges crumble, rocks fall, and outlaws can find out where you sleep that night. At Luckslinger, we rely on the luck of the draw. Clovercreek and the Mad Outlaws – The town of Clovercreek has been blind robbed. Six nefarious criminals have stolen the city’s precious lucky charms and it’s up to you to bring them back. Get paid the gold price by doing so, because Bounty Hunters don’t do charity work. Duck friend until the end – You are always accompanied by your companion Duckbridge. He returns your throwing knife, grabs extra health, and distracts your enemies … but only when his little duck brain tells him to.
