The 2021 NASCAR Cup series schedule is set to begin Tuesday with the Busch Clash in Daytona.
While Tuesday’s show is a scoreless race, it should still be a competitive race to start the 2021 season, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This is especially true in this event, which last year concluded with only six cars still in circulation after a series of late accidents. Erik Jones was the victorious pilot of the Clash 2020, limping across the finish line with a particularly battered car.

Ryan Blaney won pole for Tuesday’s 35-lap Clash; he is followed by Alex Bowman, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and William Byron respectively from second to fifth position.

Clash at Daytona 2021: Highlights
Every hour in the East
8:07 p.m .: And there’s the third warning of the night, on turn 22.
8:06 p.m .: Cole Custer is the next rider to miss the chicane. He has had time to restart, but his car does not move. This could be a warning.
8:05 p.m .: Hamlin led 12 of the Clash’s 20 laps.
8:02 p.m .: Hamlin, Blaney and Logano in the top three positions, respectively, returning to the oval.
8 p.m .: And another problem at turn 1! Kurt Busch was the leader on the reboot and took it too quickly. There was no correction for him. He had to turn around and is now completely in last place.
8 p.m .: Reddick’s car stalls out of the pit stop in the warning. He will start the race in 19th place.
7:55 p.m .: Truex during the call to his foreman said he was just not looking for the chicane.
19h54: Big oof for Truex. Bowman is also heading back for not serving his pass before the warning.
Martin Truex Jr. is penalized for not using the frontstretch chicane on bail. It will have to restart at the back.
Alex Bowman never served his pass from his speeding penalty. Also goes to the back | #NASCAR

19:51: The 15th lap warning flag came out with Truex in the lead and Hamlin in second.
19:49: Alex Bowman is penalized for driving too fast on the pit lane.
19:47: Truex is now in the lead after passing Hamlin on the oval on lap 14.
19:41: And disaster for Blaney! He was leading the approach to Turn 1 off the green flag, but had too much speed towards Turn 1, forcing him to over-correct and collide with Martin Truex Jr. Disastrous error. Now Kyle Reddick is in the lead with Blaney dropping to 14th place.
7:40 p.m .: Green flag again.
19:39: Scratch the previous entry on Logano; he moved to the back due to the warning for having too many crew members on the wall.
7:35 p.m .: The majority of the runners make their pitstops with caution, including Hamlin. As this is not an event warning, no fuel can be added.
19:34: There is one caveat in effect; crews sweep at the bus stop, where a lot of dirt has been lifted by the riders.
7:33 p.m .: The crew at Logano’s booth looks good.
19:28: DiBenedetto is not the only one to oppose; Logano is also for overheating issues. Kurt Busch also comes for the service.
19:27: Oh, now Matt DiBenedetto has missed the front chicane turn. He served a stop and go penalty, forcing him to show up on lap 6. Not ideal.
19:25: Hamlin, meanwhile, has led every round so far (five to date). He has more than a second lead over Blaney in second place.
7.20 p.m .: And now Kevin Harvick is in the grass outside the bus stop on lap 3. No caution. He is in the last place before lap 4.
19:19: Looks like Joey Logano already has damage to his nose after hitting the curb on the front right away; Fox Sports 1 telecast reports that he told his crew chief that the car felt and drove differently.
19:16: Denny Hamlin quickly took the lead over pole position holder Ryan Blney out of the infield.
7.15 p.m .: And there is the green flag! Let’s see how the runners adjust to moving around the infield … and they all made turn 1.
7:14 p.m .: Chase Elliott, originally slated to start at the seventh position, was moved to the back by NASCAR for ineligible adjustments to his car.
7:09 p.m .: Engines fired:
7:04 p.m .: Our first look at Clint Bowyer at the Nascar on Fox booth:
