There are no rewards for winning – other than knowing you’ve won the victory over your co-op partner – and you can play the mini-games as much or as little as you want. Each minigame takes around a minute and is never more than a quick minigame that requires you to press a button or two repeatedly.
Please click or press the links below to access the different sections:
Shed mini-games
Below is a list of each of the mini-games that can be found in the Shed level of It Takes Two, including how to find the mini-game and how to play it.
Whack-a-Cody
The Whack-a-Cody minigame can be found halfway through the Depths of the Hangar – you can’t miss this minigame because Dr. Hakim is basically forcing you to play it.
May will stand on top of the box with her hammer. Cody has to get into the box. Basically the two of you are playing whack-a-mole. Cody appears using the left stick and May has to aim at Cody and press RT / R2 to hit Cody. May gets two points for each shot from Cody.
Cody gets +1 point for every half second (basically) they stay. Whoever fills their bar at the top of the screen wins first.
There is no reward for winning other than gloating over the person you are playing with. It feels good, so go for it.
Turn the knob
The Flip the Switch minigame can be found shortly after the first minigame in The Depths – Whack-a-Cody. After Whack-a-Cody, there is a puzzle to be solved. Immediately after leaving this puzzle area, hang onto the right and follow the path. You will see a tambourine floating above a large metal circle.
To start Flip the Switch, Cody has to stand on the small square platform with a yellow circle inside and May has to hit the larger yellow circle in front of her. This lifts Cody into the air and officially begins the Flip the Switch minigame.
May has to rush in and hit the targets with her hammer to score points. Cody, on the other hand, has to shoot the targets with his fingernail. Whoever completes the score bar first wins.
Like all of the other mini-games in this game, there is no reward for winning other than the sweet, sweet victory you got over the other player.
The tree mini-games
Below is a list of each of the mini-games that can be found in The Tree level of It Takes Two, including how to find the mini-game and how to play it.
Tug of war
To get started, Cody and May need to grab separate sides of the rope and repeatedly press Y / Triangle when the tug of war begins. Whoever pushes it down the fastest will pull the other person closer to the hole in the middle, and ultimately, into the hole. The person who drags the other into the hole wins.
There is no reward for winning, per se, but you can watch the loss fall into a hole. So this is it.
Plunger pusher
When you get off the blue fish floating near the end of The Tree level, you will be dropped on solid ground. Right in front of you is a tambourine and that’s because the Plunger Dunger minigame is nearby.
To play Plunger Dunger, you both need to interact with a gun on either side of the tunnel (see below). You’ll both aim at each other – aim with the right stick and shoot while shooting RT / R2. You can charge the shot by holding the trigger.
When the targets start moving towards you, shoot them with a plunger. This causes the target to flip and the opposite direction. You get a point when a target reaches your opponent’s side.
Whoever has the most points after 60 seconds wins! Congratulations! You are a diver legend!
Rose’s Room mini-games
Below is a list of each of the mini-games that can be found in the Rose’s Room level of It Takes Two, including how to find the mini-game and how to play it.
Tank brothers
When you start the Pillow Fort chapter of Rose’s Room, go forward and keep an eye on the area above you. When you see a path that leads pretty close to the beginning of this chapter, head over there and you’ll find a tambourine up there. This is where Tank Brothers is located.
To play Tank Brothers, Cody and May must interact with the gameboy-style handhelds placed on the ground by the tambourine. When the game starts, you will both be in charge of a tank. The objective is to hit the other player three times. Move the tank with the right stick, control its aim (the little white circle on the ground in front of you determines where the tank’s projectile will land) and RT / R2 is what is pressed to fire.
The first to strike the other player to death with three projectiles wins.
Spacewalk
After turning on the first robot in the Spaced Out chapter, the cylindrical tunnels behind the robot will become a space in which you can float up and down. Float upwards and watch for the opening under the first layer of portals above. If you see portals, you’ve gone too high. Enter this opening and go through the portal in there. Head over to the tambourine here to start the Spacewalk minigame.
Cody and May have to press Y / Triangle on the little squares near the tambourine. This starts the game. Basically, jump on the many floating boxes around you. This claims the square for you and gives you a point. You can claim one that your opponent has claimed to take that point from him.
Whoever has the most points after 60 seconds wins.
Laser tennis
Much like the one we previously found in Spaced Out, it sits halfway up the float tube. As you walk from the first three portals to the next set of portals, look for an opening. It leads to a portal where a mini-game can be found.
Go through the portal and go forward. Cody and May would have to interact with the machine in front of them to start the match. On the ground, there is a bunch of squares. When a square lights up, walk on it. This sends a laser to your opponent’s side. They have to jump over the laser.
Send as many lasers as there are squares you can walk on to create complete chaos on your opponent’s side. The player whose health bar is depleted first is the loser. After that, exit the portal and head to the next set of three portals.
Rodeo
To locate the Rodeo mini-game, head to the start of the Hopscotch chapter of Rose’s Room. Go ahead and jump over the blocks. You should be in a small square area with a road mat on the ground. In the corner is the tambourine of some broncos.
To start this mini-game, Cody and May must press Y / Triangle on the two bulls. When the game starts, the bulls will try to knock them down. To stay, look above the character’s head. You will see a button on the controller. Press this button as the large yellow ring closes over the smaller white ring.
If the pimple turns green you’re fine, and if it turns red it’s a knock closer to falling. Three red buttons knock you out. The first to be eliminated loses.
Feed the reptile
To find the Feed the Reptile mini-game, look for the singular cow square on the ground near the end of the rail segment in the Hopscotch chapter. Instead of pulling up the yellow pads behind him, follow the green path on the ground to the reptile heads on the wall.
To play Feed the Reptile, both players must press Y / Triangle on the tambourine firing mechanism. Press Y / Triangle to pick up a ball and throw it into a reptile’s mouth by pressing RT / R2. Aim using the left and right sticks.
Whoever has the most points after 30 seconds wins.
Batting team
The batting team mini-game can be found right after finding the sketch in the hopscotch section of Rose’s Room. From the engraving-sketch, jump along the floating block path and keep an eye out for a baseball toy on the right. This is the batting team mini-game.
To start the team at batting, Cody and May must press Y / Triangle at their respective toy hitter. To play, press Y / Triangle when the respective ball passes in front of the batter you are controlling. This causes the batter to hit the ball around the circle. Hit the ball again when it comes back.
Whoever has the most points after 60 seconds wins the game.
