Don’t expect ‘Overwatch 2’ or ‘Diablo 4’ this year

Overwatch 2 adds co-op story missions, new maps, a new mode that plays like tug of war, and at least one new character, Sojourn, to Blizzard’s competitive first-person shooter. All characters are getting visual improvements and the user interface will be new as well. The game is definitely heading to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, and likely next-gen consoles as well.

Diablo 4 is an isometric RPG also in development for consoles and PC. This is the sequel to 2012 Diablo 3, and it takes place many years after the events of this game. Blizzard describes it as a throwback to the series’ Gothic and medieval roots, with three character classes confirmed so far: barbarian, witch, and druid.

Snow storm

Activision Blizzard may have more information to share on BlizzCon 2021, a fully virtual event taking place on February 19 and 20.

Activision is also the owner of Call of Duty, and the publisher has confirmed that there will be another main entry in this series this year, as always. Otherwise, Activision Blizzard’s fourth quarter of 2020 income report says, “We are making significant progress against our development pipeline for other key intellectual properties, which are expected to fuel growth in 2022 and beyond.

Finally, the good news (and you thought you forgot): We just fulfilled the site’s “ni-ni” quota for the year. Pleasant.
