Dustin Johnson’s reign as Masters champion lasted only two rounds of the 2021 tournament.
Johnson missed the cup at this year’s event after winning the 2020 Masters last November. He fell two strokes off the cut line after playing 36 holes in 5 over par.

He’s focused on one reason he won’t be playing at Augusta National on weekends.
“All three putts killed me. You take out all three putts, I have 1 under,” said Johnson, by PGATour.com, who noted that DJ had 64 putts in his two rounds, fifth in the standings.
“It was a bit of a difference,” he added. “My speed was horrible. I just left it 10 feet short over there on the last hole. I just didn’t have a good pearl on speed the last couple of days.” Firm greens have been a challenge for the entire field this week.
Johnson had three putts on the 16th par 3 on Friday to hurt his chances. He also hit two shots in the water in the last four holes, by Golf.com. The second was his tee shot at 18, where he needed a birdie to make the cut.
He wasn’t the only recent Masters champion to miss the cup this week. Sergio Garcia, the 2017 champion, finished 4th and Danny Willett, the 2016 champion, joined Johnson at 5.
Several great champions Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka also missed the cup. McIlroy ended two days of adventure at age 6. Koepka (+5) was on the course just three weeks after knee surgery on March 16.
