Gonzaga rookie Jalen Suggs delivered one of the best shots in March Madness history on Saturday, conceding a half court, beating 3 on the glass to give the seeded Bulldogs a 93- 90 in overtime against 11 seeded UCLA in the Final Four.
The shot was incredible, without a doubt. Also consider the time remaining on the clock (3.3 seconds when Gonzaga conceded the ball), the endgame and the nature of the game’s back-and-forths, and many will count this game among the greatest in NCAA tournament history.
Skip Bayless’s eternal heel and chronic contrarian, however, did not share this opinion. On the contrary, the “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed” co-host called the move “pure luck,” later adding that, for this reason, the game could not be considered an all-time game.

I don’t know how you can call it an all-time great college basketball game when it was won by one lucky shot.

Just to clarify, Bayless was not impressed with this shoot:
There is really nothing to say about Bayless’s opinion. He’s committed to a little, whoever pays well and gets him in the news even if he’s not doing anything particularly interesting. But just for the sake of posterity, let’s note that a “lucky” move doesn’t take away from the greatness of this Final Four game – it only adds to it. Any other opinion is stupid.
Let’s say the shot was just “lucky”. Does that take away from Jaime Jaquez Jr. to tie the game with a return with 3.3 seconds left in overtime? Does that take away from Drew Timme, with four fouls, a charge on Johnny Juzang with 1.1 seconds in regulation on a potential possession from the Bruins that would change the head? Does that take away the incredible Suggs streak where he blocked a Cody Riley’s dunk attempt, then dealt a half-court rebound pass to Timme for a dunk? Does that take away 29 points from Juzang, the top of the game, on 12 of 18 shots? Or the 19 lead changes, or the fact that neither team leads by more than seven points?
The answers to these questions, in order: no, no, no, no, no and no.
