How to wish for a shooting star

When you see or hear a shooting star twinkling in the sky, there are some things you need to do to secure your wish:

1) Make sure you are not holding anything or sitting down

2) Watch the night sky by pressing the right stick

3) Press “A” whenever you see a shooting star in the sky

Blathers‘sister Celestial doesn’t need to be in your city for shooting stars to appear. You can see random shooting stars on a clear night, so keep an eye out for them while you are on the go.

The shooting stars come in pairs. If you miss the first, make sure you want the second. You can only wish for one shooting star.

How to get Star Fragments and Large Star Fragments

publicity

Star Fragments, Large Star Fragments, and Zodiac Star Fragments are available only when wishing stars. The more stars you want, the more Star Fragments you will earn.

If you are specifically trying to get large Star Shards, keep wishing for stars as they pass! They randomly fall along with the smaller star fragments.

You can collect the Star Fragments the next day. They will wash up on the beaches of your island. If you happen to wish a lot, keep checking your beach as they will continue to do the dishes. It’s unclear exactly what exactly forces the different types of Star Fragments, but once we do, we’ll make sure it’s on this page.

The Zodiac Star Shards you will likely get are based on the zodiac sign currently in the sun. For example, in April, you will likely get an Aries shard. Other zodiac star fragments can fall even when a different sign is in the sun, but these drops appear to be rarer.

Here’s when the different zodiac signs are active and how long you have to collect various constellation fragments:

Celestial will give you recipes that require Zodiac Constellation Star Fragments, so make sure you keep them safe!

Meteor showers and Celestial

Celestial will occasionally visit your island after 7 p.m. and will always appear when there is a meteor shower or at least the chance for a few shooting stars to appear on a clear day. the Meteor shower event brings in a lot more shooting stars than any normal night, and Isabelle will notice it during the daily announcement, so make sure you don’t miss it.

When you talk to Celestial, she’ll let you know about the frequency of shooting stars and rumors about a wand that can turn you into a whole new you. Queue the recipe for the magic wand!

I have not seen Celestial in a moment? You can chat with her on other people’s islands and she will give you a recipe just like she would if she were on your island! You can only get a recipe from her once per night.

If you talk to her again, she will also let you know that each of the constellations has a story, and sometimes more than one. If you “come across something related to a constellation”, say, like a large fragment of a zodiac star, bring it Celestial next time you see her and she will tell you her story.

How to get even more Star Shards

If you can’t see the stars falling or if you haven’t meteor shower, you may want to consider finding a web host online meteor shower Event. Online communities on Discord, Reddit, and other places have groups just for that. You can also use tools as the turnip swap to find people with open islands who have Celestial.

If you don’t want to go online, there are still things you can do to try and find those coveted shooting stars.

  • When the night sky is clear on your island, play with headphones and keep the volume high. This will help you better hear the flicker of a falling star. It looks like gentle wind chimes.
  • Stay outdoors around your island at night. Avoid standing near waterfalls and anything that plays music or makes noise. You don’t have to focus on the sky alone, but you need to stay focused on listening.

Crafting with Star Fragments

If you’re wondering what to do with Star Shards in Animal Crossing, be aware that you might want to use them for crafting. If you have encountered a lot of them while playing, better accumulate them!

Star fragments are rare (but not as rare as gold ore) so be sure to keep them in a safe place for crafting. You will learn new featured recipes from Celestial as you see (some of which will require large fragments of stars corresponding to the current zodiac sign), or you might get fortunate and receive one from a present balloon or even from a villager.

Once you have made a zodiac cabinet, you can also take it to Celestial and she’ll tell you a story.
