Gazelle will stop accepting mail exchanges on February 1

Must read

Used electronics market Gazelle terminates its postal exchange program. In an email obtained by The edge, the company announces that it will stop offering the service on February 1, 2021, which means potential customers have until January 31 to get an old device if they want to take advantage of the outgoing program. After this date, Gazelle will continue to sell refurbished devices on its website. And if you intend to trade in an old phone or iPad, you can still do so through its parent company, ecoATM, which operates kiosks across the United States. Competitive services like Orchard will also remain an option.

According to The edgeGazelle does not provide a reason for this decision, but the current state of the US mobile market must have played a role in the decision. In recent years, phone rental has become incredibly popular, with carriers and manufacturers offering their own version of the idea. If you’re the type of person who likes to have the latest iPhone model, there’s no need to sell your current model to a company like Gazelle when you can trade it in directly to Apple through its two. IPhone Upgrade Program and traditional exchange program. Since 2017, Apple also offers mailing options for the former, it is therefore not as if the release of Gazelle left a hole in the market.
