Here are the youngest players to win a Super Bowl in NFL history

Must read

Unless the NFL changes its preliminary rules, perhaps the league’s most unbreakable record is for the youngest Super Bowl winners.

A handful of players made it at 21, including two as starters – Jamal Lewis and Bryan Bulaga. But it’s fundamentally impossible in the current setup for a player under the age of 21 to play in February of the year following their draft. This means Lewis and Bulaga might only welcome more company over time, not get beaten.

A quarterback could accomplish this feat, however. No quarterback has started and won the Super Bowl at 21 or even 22. Even Patrick Mahomes didn’t do it that fast.

Below we have more details on the youngest quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl with some of the youngest players to ever get a ring.

BIGGEST SUPER BOWL WINNERS: By team | By player | MVP

Who is the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl?

The youngest quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl is Ben roethlisberger, who was 23 years old in Super Bowl 40 when the Steelers beat the Seahawks, 21-10. Hines Ward was named Super Bowl MVP, but Roethlisberger was the winning quarterback. However, Big Ben struggled against Seattle, completing 9 of 21 passes for 123 yards and two interceptions.

Some of the other more notable Super Bowl-winning QBs didn’t get their first win until later in their careers. Here is a list of some of the best quarterbacks and the age at which they first won the Super Bowl:

  • Patrick Mahomes – 24
  • Tom Brady – 24
  • Joe Montana – 25
  • Terry Bradshaw – 26
  • Troy Aikman – 26
  • Aaron Rodgers – 27
  • Eli Manning – 27

If Mahomes wins Super Bowl 55 in February 2021, he would become the youngest quarterback to win two Super Bowl rings. He was only 26 years old on September 17, 2021.

Youngest Super Bowl Winners

The tricky part of NFL player rosters is that a Super Bowl-winning backup offensive guard could be young and totally out of sight, out of mind. Preparing a list of the youngest players to ever win the Super Bowl meant a tedious journey through Football Reference. But the best we can say, these are the 16 youngest players qualified as “starters” by Football Reference to ever win the Super Bowl – in other words, all of the 21 and 22 year old “starters” to get one. Ring.
