Last modification:

While the Countdown The board is in place New Years Day, you will not be able to enter Resident Services and use the facilities inside, such as the recycling bin, the Nook Stop vendor’s machine, as well as Tom and Isabelle’s services like building and villager management.

Balloons have also been placed at the back of the plaza, but you can actually browse them if you need to.

Part 1 – Post-Toy day Preparations

From the 26e of December (also known as Boxing Day), you can order multiple items from Shopping nearby. Visit supplier Nook Inc., or use the app on your phone if you have it, then navigate to Special Merchandise, then the Seasonal tab.

Here you will find several traditional New Year celebratory dishes. There is the Sparkling Global Cider (or Fizzy Apple Juice in European regions), the Spanish twelve-grape dish, German Berlin, and Japanese New Year’s noodles. These cost between 1000 and 1300 Bells, therefore are not at all unaffordable.

You will want to order these items now, as they will no longer be available as of January 1st. If it’s New Years Eve then Resident Services will be closed and you will need to use the Shopping nearby app on your phone. If you don’t already have the app, you will need to time travel one day earlier to order them.

Part 2 – Pre-celebrations

To start the New Year’s Eve festivities, go to Resident Services Plaza and talk to Isabelle. She will explain that Resident Services is closed today and the event will start later today. In the meantime, she will give you a Light Stick!

The Light Stick is an item to equip just like tools. When you have one in your hand, hold A to shake it and wave it! You will only get one of Isabelle, so cherish it!

Now talk to Tom nook, who set up a booth for New Years Eve, and he’ll be giving you Party Poppers. Party Poppers operate as they did in the Fireworks Day Event: These are single-use items that shoot confetti when you press the A button. You can hold a stack of them in your hand, allowing you to shoot multiple at once!

Talk to Tom nook a second time, and you can browse his New Year’s wares. He sells Party Poppers in groups of five for 300 Bellsand New Years hats for 500 Bells. Silk New Years hats come in four colors of your choice – yellow, orange, blue, and aqua (also known as cyan), and you can buy as many as you want!

You will want to buy the silk hats now, as they are only available on New Years Eve! Party Poppers are available in the closet of Nook’s Cranny.

Part 3 – Celebrations at night!

From 11:00 p.m., Isabelle will ask everyone to go to the square, and the festivities will begin! You can talk to Isabelle and your villager for a new dialogue if you wish.

There is one thing you can do before the party really starts. The best time to do this is at 11:30 p.m., which is when your villager will gather around the Resident Services place for the countdown, although one or two may still be in their homes at this time.

What you need to do is buy and wear one of the silk New Year’s hats available from Tom nook. Wear one, then talk to a villager at least twice – they’ll find they’re not wearing one and put on a hat themselves! Your villager will do this as New Years approaches, but it’s a lot more fun!

With that done, all you have to do is wait for the countdown to end!

Here’s a good tip: your seat will only have seven villager in both, but if you want a different set, save and exit with the – button, then exit and restart the game! The game will then load into a new set of villager. You can use it after countdown also ends!

At 11:30 p.m., the music will change and your villagers will head to the Resident Services Square. At 11:55 p.m. the music will change again and everyone will take out their Light Sticks. You can talk to your villagers and Isabelle to hear how excited they are!

At 11:59 p.m., your villagers will choose a specific place in the square to look up at the sky, and the countdown will take full concentration. 30 seconds from the end, the countdown will start beeping, and at 10 seconds from the end, your villagers will shake to the beat of the clock! So what…

Part 4 – HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Welcome to the new year! Celebrate, fireworks will light up in the sky and you will have the countdown celebration Nook miles achievement for attending the event! Unfortunately, you cannot customize the fireworks like with Fireworks Day in August.

You can now talk to your villagers, and Isabelle, to wish them a Happy New Year. Everyone, including the villagers still at home, will have four things to say, except Tom nook who has one, and Blathers, who doesn’t (I guess owls don’t celebrate New Years!).

Tom will still be available in the square if you still want one of the Silk Hats or need to top up Party Poppers.

the fireworks will last until 2:00 am, after which they will stop, your villagers will put away their glow sticks and the music will change again. Your villagers will now stop talking about the event, although they will remain hanging in the square.

At the 5:00 am reset, Isabelle and Tom will be packing, which means you will no longer be able to purchase the New Year’s silk hats. But at least Resident Services will be back on again!

After the 5:00 am reset, there are still a few minor changes. First, there’s yet another new music track just for January 1st that lasts all day. Second, your in-game mom will send you a gift in the mail: Mom’s Art, a cross-stitch work of art! Third, your villagers will discuss the New Year if you talk to them multiple times.

The fourth change is to the provider of Nook Inc .. Since resident services were unavailable on New Years Eve, interacting with them today will give you 500 Nook Points and set your daily access bonus to 7+, little no matter what it was before! Sugar!

Finally, you’ll want to check out the seasonal section of Shopping nearbySpecial products, since seven new articles were made available until January 15th. You can only order five items per day, which means you may need to purchase them for two days. The elements are:

  • Celebration Arch 2021 (2,021 Bells)
  • Olivier salad (Russian, 1000 bells)
  • Zodiac Ox figurine (Asian, 1600 bells)
  • Kagamimochi (Japanese, 1800 bells)
  • Kadomatsu (Japanese, 2580 bells)
  • New Year’s Shimekazari (Japanese, 2000 bells)
  • Yut nori (South Korean, 1300 bells)
