Roland-Garros champion Iga Swiatek and Swiss star Belinda Bencic to face off in the women’s competition Adelaide International Sunday singles final.

Swiatek defeated Jil Teichmann in a 6-3, 6-2 victory before Bencic knocked down Coco Gauff, 16, 6-7, 7-6 (7-4), 2-6.

Swiatek dominated the opening set against Teichmann, breaking the left-hander’s serve in Game 4. 19-year-old Swiatek disturbed his opponent with a series of powerful groundstrokes as Teichmann made a series of unforced errors – 13 in the first set.

Teichmann failed to convert a break point in Game 4 of the second set – his only one of the game – and it was a turning point. Swiatek held the serve, then beat Teichmann’s unranked serve the next two times to keep her perfect tournament record – she didn’t lose a set.

“I feel solid and that’s the most important thing for me because when I play well I enjoy everything,” said Swiatek.

Gauff took the initial four points of the second set tiebreaker to force a third set.

But after his serve was interrupted in the opener, and again in the fifth, Gauff’s resistance was also broken.
