Seasoned India team pacer Bhuvneshwar kumar said the bowlers had prepared hard for the challenge of taking on a dominant English batting lineup.

India beat England 2-1 in the three-game ODI series despite the visitors possessing a number of dangerous hitters with the bat. While Jonny Bairstow (124) and Ben Stokes (99) beat the Indian bowlers in the second ODI, Sam Curran (95 not out) nearly snatched the third game on Sunday.

Speaking at a virtual press conference following India’s thrilling seven-round triumph, Bhuvneshwar kumar said the bowlers were very aware of what they were going to be up against. He said in this regard:

“Mental toughness is very important. Before the start of the series, as a team we had discussed that England were playing aggressive cricket. So it can be a high scoring affair or their players can come out early. So we knew what kind of challenge we were going to face. We were ready to face the situations. We have always maintained our confidence in ourselves throughout. “

After losing the toss and going to bat, India posted a challenge of 329 on the board. Wicket keeper and batsman Rishabh Pant had 78 points, while Shikhar Dhawan (67) and Hardik Pandya (64) also made significant contributions.

In their pursuit, England collapsed to 200 for 7 before Curran’s outburst raised hope for his side. In the end, however, the efforts of Shardul Thakur (4 for 67) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3 for 42) took precedence over Curran’s resilience.

Very difficult to play against a team like England: Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Despite his victory in the T20I and ODI series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar admitted that bowling to English explosive batsmen was a huge task. According to the 31-year-old, England beaters are capable of scoring both good and bad balls.

“As bowlers we understand that English batsmen will give us opportunities because of the type of cricket they play. But you have to create those chances by playing really well. The entire England team plays attacking cricket with the bat. However, it’s not like they’re playing reckless punches. They can also mark the bad and the good. It is very difficult to play against a team like this. But as a bowling unit, we anticipated these situations. So we were prepared for it, ”explained the medium.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar made a successful comeback to the Indian squad in the T20I series against the visitors after a long injury stoppage.

He was named Man of the Match for his brilliant 2-for-15 performance in the deciding T20I in Ahmedabad.
