Rohit sharma seemed disturbed by a question about his approach to batting, suggesting that everyone should be aware of his style of play by now.

The opening batsman spoke to the press at a virtual press conference on Wednesday, ahead of the T20 five-game series against England. Rohit Sharma was asked how he approached his stick while playing T20 cricket, compared to opening for India in ODI.

“I’ve played over 100 T20Is now. You should know my approach by now, how I approach, what I do. I don’t need to talk about my approach to the game. It’s because I’ve been doing it for many years now.

Rohit Sharma’s trademark stick style has been the subject of criticism in some quarters. The batsman takes his time getting started in some games, which is not suitable for those who prefer hard-hitting opening batsmen who pull out all the guns.

The 33-year-old was more descriptive in his responses, later explaining how he changes his stick based on the situation he’s in and not the format he’s playing in.

“But yes, the situation changes from time to time. Depending on the situation of the game, I have to change the game. The approach will always remain the same, which is to say to have this intention, to have this scoring mindset. “

He admitted he was eager to deal with situations, with each game bringing a different challenge. Rohit Sharma stressed the importance of correctly assessing a situation during a match.

“The match situation is what I’m looking forward to. Because it keeps changing every game we play. It is very important for me to understand the situation and to play according to it. Whether we hit first, play first, the situation of the game demands the approach of your stick. Keeping this in mind, I move my game forward ”

Rohit Sharma explains his role as T20 opener

As Rohit Sharma is set to start as India’s opener in the T20s, there are question marks over his opening partner. Both Shikhar dhawan and KL Rahul are part of the team, and Rohit Sharma was asked if his game changes depending on who he’s starting out with.

“My role does not change. I have to beat the same. Make sure you give the team the start and the stick for as long as possible. Get the big scores. Nothing changes for me. For me, not a lot of changes (when fighting with KL Rahul or Shikhar Dhawan). I just need to assess the situation, the terrain, the bowlers playing against me and stuff like that.

Rohit Sharma has a stellar record for India in the T20Is. He is averaging 32.62 for the men in blue, hitting the ball at a rate of 138.78. The batsman explained how he approached his innings when hitting first for India.

“I just have to make sure that if we hit first, I try to give the team a good start. Then if I beat all the way to the first six overs, make sure I beat as long as possible and get the team to a decent target.

He also explained how he takes on a different mindset while being second in the game’s shortest format.

“When you continue, the approach remains the same, but the mindset changes because you have a score in front of you. It depends on how you want to hit, how many points you’re chasing and you just have to calculate all of those things and put them into your game. “

Rohit Sharma will play a central role with the bat for India in the T20I 5-game series, which starts on March 12 in Ahmedabad. With this series being billed as a dress rehearsal for the World T20 later this year, the form of the opener with the bat will be a crucial aspect for the Men in Blue.
