In the long forgotten time of 2019, Instagram announced the start of a test to hide Like count users generally see on everyone’s posts. In the last year of the COVID pandemic, this test is still ongoing, but without much updating or expansion. Today, many Instagram users in the US received the above notification saying that they would no longer see Like accounts, but without any official announcements.
Instagram told Engadget that today’s expansion was a bug, explaining in a tweet that “we unintentionally added more people to the test today.” So if you got the message and changed today, expect to see it come back to normal soon.
We tested a new experience to hide likes on thread posts. We unintentionally added more people to the test today, which was a bug – we’re fixing this and rolling back the people count to those people ASAP.
