The Rockets were quick to ship disgruntled star James Harden, whom his teammates criticized following his latest form of “disrespect” to the organization this week. Harden is heading to the Nets in a four-team trade, according to multiple reports.
Trade talks quickly escalated after Harden stepped onto the podium on Tuesday night after the Rockets’ loss to the Lakers and essentially put his request for an exit straight into the microphone.
“I love this city. I literally did everything I could,” said Harden. “I mean, this situation is crazy. It’s something that I don’t think I can fix. Thank you.”
John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins were not happy with Harden’s approach.
Wall questioned why Harden would leave the team after just nine games, while Cousins went further in his criticism.
“My interest is playing with John Wall, to be brutally honest,” Cousins said. “The disrespect (Harden) started way before. It’s not something that you know suddenly started last night.… It’s completely unfair to the rest of the guys in the locker room.”
As part of the complicated deal, Caris LeVert moves to the Pacers, Jarrett Allen travels to the Cavaliers and Victor Oladipo and an array of draft picks are sent to Houston.
Harden gives the Nets a Big 3 with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.
