John Cena Sr. discussed John cena and Randy Ortonof WWE future in a recent conversation with Dan Mirade of Boston Wrestling MWF. John Cena’s father has revealed that he believes Orton is more likely to become 17-time World Champion than his son.

Reflecting on Orton’s run for WWE in 2020, John Cena Sr. mentioned that The Viper could realistically win 17 world championships. He has already won 14 world championships, two behind the record 16 reigns of John Cena and Ric Flair.

“Orton is a Legend Killer, he destroyed them all. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Orton who broke Ric Flair’s record. Someone has to do it.

Dan Mirade noted that John Cena is also a contender to become the world championship record holder. His last World Championship victory came in January 2017 when he defeated AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

John Cena Sr. made it clear in his response that he does not see his son winning a 17th world championship before the end of his career.

“No, I’m putting money into it right now.”

John Cena lost a match against Firefly Fun House Bray wyatt at WrestleMania 36. Prior to that, his last WWE match in front of the fans was in January 2019 in a Fatal 4-Way match on RAW.

John Cena Sr. questions WWE booking of Randy Orton

John Cena’s dad also gave his opinion on WWE’s reservation of the Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre rivalry. The Viper won the title at Hell in a Cell before McIntyre found it 22 days later on RAW. Following the title change, Roman Reigns faced McIntyre instead of Orton in Survivor Series.

Dan Mirade’s conversation with John Cena Sr. was taped before the pay-per-view. John Cena’s father speculated that WWE could have ended Orton’s reign in order to change the Survivor series match.

“Orton is a great performer, probably one of the best heels in the world, next to my friend Bray Wyatt. I mean, take a look at what’s going on. It’s there, they don’t use it. To give Orton the title and keep it going for three weeks, I guess the question becomes, “Why?” But it must have been better for business because eventually Reigns will take it [the victory] at Survivor Series. “

In fact, Orton was not in a Survivor Series game. Reigns ended up beating McIntyre in their Champion v Champion match following interference from Jey Uso.
