The two companies will continue to work together to bring these vehicles to several cities over the next several years. Lyft said this is the “first deployment partnership between a carpooling company and a provider of driverless technology for a transport service”. He will handle the carpooling side, including driver experience, while Motional will handle the cars.
It is not known in which cities the companies plan to deploy fully autonomous vehicles as a first step. Of course, they would need the approval of regulators in each jurisdiction before doing so.
