Essendon super Matthew lloyd targeted Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson and Kangaroos coach David Noble for playing rookies as medical substitutes.

Connor Downie failed to get down Hawthorn’s point victory over Essendon Saturday, before Charlie Lazzaro gets a quarter of North’s 52-point loss to Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Lloyd frowned at the decisions of the two coaches, saying that what is normally a momentous occasion for a young player has been ruined.

“I was told today by three people who called me and said: ‘We made a pact as a football club not to do this to beginners,” “he said. he declared to Nine’s. Footy Ranked.

“If you were to ask these guys, ‘Did you enjoy your debut?’ They’d say, ‘No, I didn’t,’ because to them you’re just sitting there.

“It’s (supposed to be) a joyous occasion and you spit it out right away and remember your first touch.”

Lloyd then went further, saying that Clarkson and Noble should include Downie and Lazzaro in their respective 22s in the second round.

“I think Alastair Clarkson and David Noble are indebted to these two boys for playing them in the 22 this week, you can’t let them down now,” he said.

“Would you have Jamarra Ugle-Hagan in an undershirt that doesn’t play in his first game? That’s one of the big thrills when you sell a player is playing his first game.

“I just think it would be pretty insensitive to leave them out this week.”
