His name is General Axel Booty. Yes, General Booty. No, not a typo.
But Booty is more than a name. He’s a Division I quarterback prospect who will first make his mark at Tyler Junior College, and he’s the latest in a long line of Booty family footballers. His uncle, John David Booty, gained notoriety as a starting quarterback for USC. Now it’s General Booty, a high school student in the Class of 2021, looking to make his mark with more than his name.
“Obviously my name gets attention and people love to make headlines with it, but I love showing people with my piece that I can back it up too.” The general told the Dallas Morning News. “I did, I’m going to keep doing it too, and give them a reason to remember my name.”
Here’s what you need to know about General Booty as he moves closer to a possible Division I future.

1. Where does the “general” come from?
Booty’s father, Abram, had a fascination with the military growing up, according to The morning news from Dallas. He made the decision mentally when he was younger that if he had a son someday he would appoint him General.
The plan was for Booty’s parents to call her by her middle name, Axel. But they told the Dallas Morning News that when Booty was young he only answered “general,” and so that’s what stuck.
2. Legacy of booty football
General Booty is a third generation quarterback. First came his grandfather, Johnny, who was one of the top quarterback rookies in high school and played in both Arkansas and Mississippi State in college.
Johnny had four sons: Josh, Abram (the general’s father), John David (pictured below) and Jake. Josh was named a USA Today All-American in 1993 and was also a first-round pick in the MLB Draft. Abram played wide receiver at LSU and had a brief stint with the Browns in the NFL. John David won two Rose Bowls at USC and Jake was an All-States quarterback in high school.
“When you think of Shreveport, Louisiana and you mention track and field, the name Booty is the first name that comes to mind,” said the general’s mother Amy. The morning news from Dallas.
3. General Booty spent time in four high schools
The Booty family has moved in recent years, which means General has spent time at four different high schools – two in California, then one in San Antonio before coming to Allen, TX for his senior year.
Allen High School may sound familiar. It’s one of the biggest and best football high schools in Texas, and it calls Kyler Murray an alumnus.

4. General Booty can play
Until December 16, Booty had thrown 27 touchdowns in his final year for Allen. The former 6-3 had received five scholarship offers at Division I schools: Liberty, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Nicholls State and Yale.

Booty announced his signing with Tyler Junior College on February 3, putting at least one Division I future on hold. But based on his playing at Allen and the interest in Division I programs, he will surely continue to make a name for himself in the future.
