Melbourne Stars’ Adam Zampa fined and banned from cops for word misuse in Sydney Thunder game

Gun Melbourne Stars leg thrower Adam Zampa was fined $ 2,500 and is set to miss the first Big Bash League shock of 2021 after a one-match ban for “audible obscenity” on the pitch.

Cricket Australia today released a statement confirming the Australia international was suspended after costly use of words in the Stars’ 75-point loss to the Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval on Tuesday night, in which a strain mic l ‘surprised by saying “f ** k me”.

It happened when thunder batsman Callum Ferguson gave a deep cover kick and went between the wickets to stack even more points in an already expensive over.

Zampa will miss the Stars’ game against the Hobart Hurricanes at Bellerive Oval on Saturday, before returning to face the Hurricanes at the Tasmania venue next Monday.

In last season’s BBL tournament, Zampa was not suspended but was fined $ 2,500 for a similar offense.

Melbourne sits fifth in the BBL10 table with two wins in five games.

Zampa took seven wickets at an average of 18.57 in four games and conceded 8.12 points per touch.
