Pilots, start your engines. It’s time to run.
The NASCAR Cup Series will officially begin its 73rd season on February 14 with the Daytona 500. Several venues on the schedule will be familiar to racing fans, but a few changes have been made, including the addition of more road courses.
In 2021, NASCAR will host seven road events, and for the first time in over 50 years, there will be a dirt race. Bristol Motor Speedway will be covered with dirt for the Food City Dirt Race on March 28.
“We said in 2019 really that we wanted to change the calendar”, says Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR Executive Vice President and Director of Race Development. “2020 was going to be the year we could make some moves in the racing portfolio that we’ve had, but really 2021 and beyond is where you’re going to see some bold NASCAR racing. We think we’ve delivered on that. “
