Netflix has reclaimed the worldwide rights to a spy thriller that could affect the subscriber’s buying decision. The streaming giant won the auction for Hearts of stone, a spy thriller by Gal Gadot developed by Skydance Media and directed by Tom Harper (Aeronauts). According to Deadline, the people behind the film are hopeful it would lead to a huge female-centric spy franchise in the same vein as Impossible mission and 007.
Skydance also sold Chris Patt-starrer The war of tomorrow to Amazon earlier this week. Unlike this movie, which is already finished, Hearts of stone is still in his preliminary steps and has yet to be shot – we may have to wait a while to get a glimpse of it. Gadot will co-produce the film, which is written by Greg Rucka (The old guard) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden figures). Skydance and Netflix had previously worked together in several projects, including that of Charlize Theron The old guard and Ryan Reynolds’ 6 Underground.
