Tiamat, goddess of the salt sea, joins Hit as the 113th god and introduces the New Babylonian Pantheon, available today on Xbox One.
The stone tablets of Babylon describe the beginning of the mortal realm – a place of chaos – until the arrival of Tiamat. She destroyed the chaos and filled the cosmic void with the salt sea water. Tiamat is the mother of everything – including the early gods, who rose up against her in defiance. Out of her fury, she spawned monsters to punish those who betray the gods.
Tiamat enters the Hit battlefield on the verge of destruction. She frees the world from Cthulhu’s control and banishes it to the depths. Yet his motives are not altruistic. It is now his kingdom to rule, recreated to meet his desires. And she is ready to wage war on anyone who tries to oppose her.
When designing Tiamat, the team wanted to focus on her monstrous form: a divine goddess that is both draconic and elegant. Its visual design is inspired by aquatic creatures as well as the jewels of Babylonian royalty. The concept team experimented with many different presentations of Tiamat, from body shape to animal type. The final design presents a balance of bestial power and the pose and grace of a queen.
Tiamat is a mage who changes his position. We wanted to use these positions to incorporate his confrontational personality into his kit. The flight position will be elegant and elevated while its ground position will rage and roar. The flying stance will feature magic damage at longer range while the ground stance will feature Tiamat on all fours to perform brutal melee attacks in the thick of battle. Plus, she’ll be able to spawn monsters to bid on and duplicate jungle buffs, building on the theme that the Mother of Monsters truly controls the battlefield.
