The season for Manly Sea Eagles backrower Andrew Davey looks almost over after injuring his ACL in the opening minutes of his side’s loss to South Sydney on Saturday afternoon.
After just four minutes of play, Davey had to be helped from the field after awkwardly falling into a crooked tackle at Brookvale Oval.
Coach Des Hasler confirmed after the game that Davey’s season was likely over for this year.
“It won’t be any easier, especially with some of the injuries we’ve suffered,” Hasler said.
“Andrew Davey, most likely an ACL, so his season is over.
“He had some really good goals, I thought what he delivered last week was a real spark, he’s also very competitive so we’re going to miss that.”
It was Davey’s first start to the season, as teammate Curtis Sironen also suffered from a knee injury and had been ruled out for four to six weeks.
“He’s injured here, he did something wrong,” NRL great Braith Anasta said at the time of the injury.
“I think he made his knee here.”
