Sonny Bill Williams will return to the Sydney Roosters and help mentor teenage superstar Joseph Suaalii.
Nine NRL reporter Danny Weidler revealed the development in his Sun Herald column, reporting that SBW appeared at the club’s training facility last Thursday.
“SBW also met Roosters chairman Nick Politis, who has long wanted the international doubles to play a role in the club after football. Politis wants it even more after Suaalii is signed. The duo will work well together,” he said. writes Weidler.
Williams was a hero of the Roosters premier in 2013 and made a cameo appearance for the club late last season. He was a fashionable young superstar when he won a title with the Bulldogs in his first season in the NRL in 2004, which meant he walked in Suaalii’s place.
Suaalii made a sensational appearance for North Sydney, a foster club for the Roosters, in a try last weekend – in which he scored two tries against Canberra.
Suaalii is expected to receive an age exemption to play in the NRL from the start of the season, despite not turning 18 (the usual minimum) until August.
