There are a lot of Resident Evil movies and adaptations in the works, so to clear things up, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is a new reboot of the feature film. completely unrelated to the franchise previously run by Paul WS Anderson and starring Mila Jovovich.
Constantin Film, the same production company that produced the first Resident Evil movie franchise, is working on Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. The movie has already announced who he has casting for his main roles which you can see in the gallery below.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is not to be confused with a few ongoing projects at Netflix, including the CGI animated film Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and a Resident Evil Live TV Series spin-off starring the children of Wesker.
