Today at a digital showcase event, Capcom revealed new details about Resident Evil Village, its upcoming and highly anticipated entry in the Resident Evil franchise launched on May 7, 2021 for Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One via backward compatibility. Also announced was Resident Evil Re: Verse, a new multiplayer game where players face off in unique death battles in iconic game locations.
In addition to the release date announcement, Capcom also shared important game footage that featured Resident Evil 7 biohazard‘s Ethan Winters, who returns as the main protagonist of Resident Evil Village. A promising and thrilling action combined with the survival and horror gameplay of Resident Evil, the development team also shared new details of the upcoming game that will recall fan favorite elements from previous Resident Evil games.
New to Ethan will be the ability to buy and sell items, purchase crafting recipes, and customize weapons from a merchant known only as The Duke. Think of him as your in-game gunsmith who, using the resources you find throughout the game, provides you with recipes for you to craft consumables and other provisions to help you survive the dreaded village.
One of the most talked about teases as the Resident Evil news approached was Lady Dimitrescu (aka Tall Vampire Lady), whose mysterious girls can turn into swarms of bugs (no thanks). How these characters will play a role in the larger story of Resident Evil Village that remains to be seen. We plan, like other entries in the series, to come face to face with other unique adversaries who will each have their own unique and horrific ways of attacking us. Bring it on!
To thank the fans for celebrating the 25e franchise anniversary, access to the free multiplayer experience Resident Evil Re: Verse will be included with a purchase of Resident Evil Village. This mode will pit the popular Resident Evil characters against each other in unique four to six player death battles in iconic game locations. Each character will have their own skills for players to master, such as playing as a biological weapon when they respawn to take revenge on other players. Resident Evil Re: Verse will be available at some point after the release of Resident Evil Village.
