From at a whopping 9’6 “tall, Alcina Dimitrescu has been a source of intrigue to many since Capcom first revealed its inclusion in the latest Resident Evil adventure. As the villain, we’re more than likely going to kill her, which makes falling in love with the vampire grande dame a bit awkward, but the mystique surrounding this character is too good not to dive in. Thanks to our friends at IGN, we have an awesome new look at her as a character and her past. Several new concept art pieces have been revealed, showcasing more of her and her surrounding family, all of whom are trying to kill our dear old Ethan Winters.

Lady Dimitrescu has her wicked claws ready to fight

Artistic Director Tomonori Takano spoke to the site to share more concept art around the character he designed, including to confirm one oddly specific fact about him: his shoe size. According to Takano, her show height is 17.3 inches, which is more than double the average height for women. Good for walking on people, I guess, because the internet wants what it wants.

“We reused Mia’s character model from Resident Evil 7 and made her wear a dress and hat,” Takano said. IGN on how the prototyping of this character began. “I thought that would be enough to give it a ghostly quality, but we couldn’t scare it. Then we decided to make the character model much bigger. This was the start of Lady Dimitrescu. I drew a conceptual artwork that she leans into to walk through a door. That’s when I felt it was going to work.

Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters

Regarding the castle, the artistic director said that the original concept surrounding this “gothic vampire castle” was designed to be only for women. Making Dimitrescu so tall allowed him to show off his power, both physically and metaphorically.

Lady Dimitrescu wanders his castle with his daughters; Bela, being the oldest, is known for her calmer nature. Cassandra is known for her sadistic streak, and we feel like Bela may have to wrap her little sister more often than not. Daniela is the youngest and is described as the “craziest”, a “delusional” and particularly dangerous person because of it. Artistic Director and Director Morimasa Sato has confirmed that it’s important to give the main villain a family of her own, given that Ethan Winters’ family plays a central role in the story. This parallel is just one of many ways the team is looking to make Resident Evil Village a new take on the horror franchise without leaving what it is known for.
