Secret invasion is one of many Marvel series in the works at Disney +. But if you’re not sure why Marvel Studios would go for the small screen treatment over taking on Secret Invasion as a blockbuster movie, don’t be. Kevin Feige hints that the series will be a much more intimate story than its comic book inspiration. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Feige said Secret Invasion series will not have a massive cast a la Avengers: Endgame, but will feature Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos as the two characters investigate a cosmic conspiracy.

“Well, there were more characters in the Secret Invasion comic book series than there were in Endgame so, no,” Feige said. “It’s not that, but it’s really a showcase for Sam Jackson and Ben Mendelson and tapping into the paranoia elements of the Secret Invasion comic book series which was awesome with the twists and turns it took. So, c is certainly our goal more than, “Can we cram more characters than Endgame?” Like the post? “

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Every Coming Movie and TV Show

The original Secret Invasion comic book was released in 2008 and dealt with a vast plot involving Double Agent Skrulls using their shapeshifting powers to pose as various heroes and villains and pave the way for the Skrull Empire to take over. control of the planet. By the end of the series, nearly every active Avenger and X-Man – as well as many villains – join forces to fend off the Skrull invaders. Obviously, the live-action series won’t follow the same roadmap.

It also makes sense that the Disney Plus series will chart its own course, given that the MCU’s Skrulls have so far been painted in a more heroic light than their comic book counterparts. Captain Marvel of 2019 revealed Fury worked directly with the Skrulls to defend Earth, with the fruits of this work revealed in a post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home. It remains to be seen whether the Skrulls are even meant to be the antagonists of the Secret Invasion, or whether the MCU will flip the script by asking the Kree or another alien race to attempt a hostile takeover of Earth.

Feige has officially confirmed the Secret Invasion series in December 2020 as part of Disney’s Investors Day press event, alongside many other MCU announcements. This news included confirmation that Doctor Strange in Multi-verse of Madness will connect to Spider-Man 3, The Falcon and the Winter Solder release date, and Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau join the cast of Captain Marvel 2.
