Sony’s new team in San Diego is working on ‘existing franchises’

The new San Diego-based PlayStation studio is working to “expand existing franchises,” according to the LinkedIn profile of the former studio manager. Michael Mumbauer worked at PlayStation as Studio Head until November 2020. As to what those existing franchises might be, rumors have been circulating for some time that PlayStation is working on a partnership with Naughty Dog. to continue the Uncharted series. Nothing official is available to confirm that this new development team is working on an Uncharted game, but there is an unusual and interesting wrinkle … In the “ Featured ” section of Mumbauer’s LinkedIn profile, enter the videos of an introductory presentation and the GDC speech of him, is a video from YouTuber RobinGaming about Sony “secretly” setting up a studio to create Uncharted 5. As for this new development team, it is not to be confused with San Diego Studio, Sony’s first development house that has spent much of its life dedicated to creating installments of MLB The Show. Instead, this new San Diego-based studio is a new build that hasn’t been officially announced yet.
