Most laptop webcams suck. If you thought I would have a good explanation as to why the chic aluminum machines packed with fast laser processors and costing over $ 1000 still have the image quality of a disposable camera, well, I don’t have any. Whatever the reason you need a webcam – maybe you want to upgrade the one on your laptop, maybe you are building a desktop workstation – it pays to invest in a camera that will make you look great. Especially now that many of us showcase our faces on Zoom and other video platforms anytime of the day.
Since the start of the pandemic, webcams have been difficult to find. Some are now (slowly) back in stock, although many are still out of stock and some prices are increasing. If our choices below are not available, be sure to check out our guides to find out how use your smartphone or one professional camera (if you have one) as a webcam instead.
