Nintendo announced a slew of games and other announcements last fall to celebrate the original’s 35th anniversary. Super Mario Bros. Quite unexpectedly, Nintendo has another limited edition product coming soon: The Switch – Mario Red & Blue Edition. The console, dock, and Joy-Cons are all a shiny Fireman Red that evokes the classic Mario color. But throw away the blue Joy-Con handles and you might find your eyes bleed a bit. Nintendo completes the look with an unsurprisingly red and blue carrying case that features subtle gray glyphs depicting various enemies of Mario. It’s a distinctive set, of course, but it’s also just a lot. See:
This set costs $ 299, the same price as the Regular switch, and it will be available at “select retailers” starting February 12. As with most limited edition consoles, we expect this one to sell out quickly, so set your timeline if you want to take the plunge. While the overall look is a bit intense, this red console and Switch dock are quite fabulous and should look good with a variety of other Joy-Con color combos. The red Joy-Cons with the blue handle, on the other hand … well, there is no count of the taste. Also, WHY did Nintendo leave the Switch kickstand gray? The world might never know.
