The creators of Cyberpunk 2077 have another problem beyond the lower version than normal of the game that appeared on older consoles. The company apparently been hacked and is held to ransom for an unreleased code both for his cyberpunk opus and an invisible version of Witcher 3.

Hackers also have internal documents covering legal, HR and investment aspects – which could be worse news for CD Projekt Red. The creator of the game does not flinch, however: “We will not give in to demands or negotiate with the actor, knowing that this could eventually lead to the release of the compromised data.” he wrote on Twitter.

How far does the hack extend? The company owns the GoG gaming platform, which contains the private information of many subscribers. CD Projekt Red says there is no sign of a customer data breach.

Ironically, given that Cyberpunk 2077 focuses on hacking and a not-so-light sprinkle of cybercrime antics, that’s the second time CP2077 details have been hacked. I should probably, finally, take the time to play.

New TVs include AI-powered upscaling, object tracking audio and more.

Samsung has revealed pricing for its 4K and 8K Neo QLED TVs, which use Mini-LED technology with thousands of LEDs to improve backlight and brightness performance. 4K models range in screen sizes from 55 inches to 85 inches, while 8K TVs measure between 65 and 85 inches. Samsung says all models are expected to ship next month.

Its 8K TVs start at $ 3,500 for a 65-inch QN800A model and $ 5,000 for a 65-inch from the high-end QN900A range. If 4K is good enough for you, Samsung is also offering new versions of these TVs, like the QN85A series which starts at $ 1,600 for a 55-inch package. Continue reading.

They used remote access to increase the levels of a dangerous chemical.

As reported by Reuters and the Tampa bay times, public officials in Oldsmar, Fla., a community about 25 minutes north of Tampa, said someone had gained unauthorized access to one of the computers at the water treatment plant of the city Friday afternoon.

An employee monitoring the station remotely saw the hacker grab the computer’s cursor and enter the software that controls the chemistry of the city’s water supply. The hacker then increased the concentration of sodium hydroxide – also known as lye and used in traces to regulate acidity – from 100 parts per million to 11,100 parts per million.

Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said: “It is important to note that the public has never been in danger.” It would have taken more than a day for the water to reach the city’s supply, and other safety devices are in place. The FBI and the police are investigating. Continue reading.

Recent rumors suggest that a $ 3,000 mixed reality headset is in the works.

Bloomberg prognosticators say Dan Riccio – who recently stepped down as senior vice president of Apple hardware to undertake a mysterious new project – will oversee the strengthening of the Apple Mixed Reality Headset team. The company apparently ran into some hurdles it hoped the leader would help overcome as he took on a new role and reported directly to CEO Tim Cook. It’s unclear exactly what these issues are, although they weren’t enough for Engineering Team Leader Mike Rockwell to step down.

There are reports that Apple will also transfer its camera and display technology teams to senior vice president Johny Srouji, who currently manages the processor and modem teams. Continue reading.
