It’s the next-generation USPS minivan, which will replace an aging fleet of vehicles powered by gasoline engines that can barely crack 10 MPG. The Postal Service said its 10-year, multibillion-dollar modernization plan will revolve around these slightly cartoonish vehicles, built by a company called Oshkosh Defense, which typically produces tactical vehicles for the military.

The Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (NGDV) does not have turrets or gun racks, but has air conditioning, blind spot warning, automatic braking and a rear view camera . Most notable, however, is the option of an electric powertrain, which the USPS says allows for upgrades in the future as technology improves.
