There was no mayonnaise bath in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl and fans felt betrayed

Must read

Disappointed. Hurt. Betrayed. These are just a few of the emotions fans felt at the end of Wisconsin’s 42-28 victory over Wake Forest in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Wednesday.

The Badgers had the win firmly in hand, leading 42-21 as Wake Forest led the field in the dying seconds. Cameras were attached to the Wisconsin players as they prepared to soak head coach Paul Chryst with a post-game victory bath in Duke’s big Mayo Bowl. After the Demon Deacons scored a touchdown in the bin with six seconds remaining, the Badgers decided to go ahead and celebrate.

It was the moment fans had been waiting for. The show had teased a mayonnaise bath the entire game, and that was the only reason many fans stayed tuned.

The only problem? There was no mayonnaise in the jar; it was just a water fountain.

Obviously, the fans were not happy.

Seeing a grown man take a mayonnaise bath would have been the perfect way to end 2020. Alas, we’ll just have to wait until next year to see if Duke’s can fix that.
