Tiger Woods signs long-term deal with 2K

Tiger woods comes back to golf games. He signed a long term agreement with 2K, who also announced a purchase agreement PGA 2K21 Tower developer HB Studios. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.

Woods will act as executive director and consultant on PGA Tour 2K matches. The deal grants 2K exclusive rights to use Woods’ name and likeness in the series and other golf games for as long as their deal lasts.

“I can’t wait to make my comeback in the video game landscape, and with 2K and HB Studios, I’ve found the right partners to make it happen,” Woods said in a press release. “I am honored to be a part of this opportunity and look forward to sharing my expertise and ideas as we build the future of golf video games together.”

PGA 2K21 Tower was the second licensed touring game developed by HB Studios for the publisher. 2K has a few other major sports licenses in its team, including the NBA and WWE. It is also return in the NFL arena.

Woods was the face of EA Sports golf games for over a decade. EA’s last entry in the series was in 2015 Rory McIlroy’s PGA Tour.

Almost 25 years after turning pro, Woods is still the biggest name in the sport, so his power and guidance should give 2K golf games some weight. It remains to be seen if Woods will return to the PGA Tour, however. He to both legs in a car accident in February.
