Tim Tszyu’s next opponent, Brisbane-based Irishman Dennis Hogan, says the undefeated Australian has had an easy run of late, not having encountered any fighter who has proven to be a difficult task. before the pair’s fight at the end of the month.

Tszyu, the son of legendary Kostya Tszyu, will have the chance to continue in his father’s footsteps when he faces Hogan (28-3-1), who has lost two challenges for a world title in his last two fights.

Tszyu, 26, knows he has to defeat Hogan if he is to stand a chance against Brian Castano, who recently won the WBO super welterweight belt in a unanimous points victory over Patrick Teixeira.

But according to Hogan, Tszyu will face his toughest challenge yet, with the 36-year-old making it known that he is a class above his youngest opponent.

“He’s not as good as me,” Hogan told reporters.

“I have more skills, I have more of everything and I firmly believe that I am the best boxer.

“That’s why this fight excites me so much. I’ve never wanted a fight as much as this all my life.

“I think it’s my time and you’ll all see why.”

Asked if Tszyu had not yet been tested after recent TKO wins Jeff horn and Bowyn Morgan, Hogan replied, “Exactly how I feel.”

“Even Jeff at his best, he was a welterweight,” he said.

“The guy (Bowyn Morgan) he knocked down in the first round was a welterweight.

“Two of the best of his most recent wins are from people who are really in a lower weight class.

“They talk about him and all his might, but he didn’t scratch Jeff no matter how the fight went.

“It won’t be me, I have full confidence in my own abilities. I know I’m going to win, something inside me has opened up.”

Tszyu beat Horn in the eighth round, while Morgan was brutally knocked out seconds after the start of the fight.

Despite Tszyu’s victory over Horn, who beat legendary Manny Pacquiao in 2017, Hogan said the pair’s fight was not as impressive as it might have seemed for fans of the 17-0 Australian.

“He (Tszyu) is more of a counter-puncher,” Hogan added.

“I don’t know what Bowyn was thinking when I watched the fight. I knew it would be over soon. He walked straight into the hands in the air and started walking in Tim’s right hand.

“For Jeff, I think Jeff was too sure of himself too and he thought he would get Tim out of there and really have fun. It was something else in itself.

“I totally agree, it’s my whole life and I’m going to take it seriously. I won’t do anything stupid.

“I’m going to make him look average, completely average.”
