With the start of the VCT, the Valorant e-sport scene is finally starting up. Recent audience figures show that the game is indeed very popular among the English speaking audience.

With Stage 1 of the Valorant Champions Tour completed and dusted off, Stage 2 is well under way, and March has been a pretty packed month of action for Riot Games’ shooter.

According to Sports graphics, the North American VCT has been as popular among English-speaking viewers as League of Legends’ LEC and LCS.

For those who don’t know, the European LEC and the North American LCS are two of the most popular esports leagues in the world. They attract some of the greatest viewership numbers throughout the spring and summer divisions.

Both leagues have a decade of history behind them, with rivalries and narratives stretching throughout the season.

Last month, the LEC got the most views. Much of it has to do with how the broadcast team connects player stories and narratives with on-screen action.

As MAD Lions reach the Spring Split final and G2 face Rogue in the Losers’ final, LEC could see a new era in which the champion is neither Fnatic nor G2.

Valorant Champions Tour NA was the second most watched esports event in May 2021

the North American Tour of the Valorant Champions gained momentum throughout the month of March. Audience and community participation have also grown slowly.

The game between Sentinels and Luminosity Gaming was one of the most watched games in Valorant esports history, peaking at 360,000 viewers.

These numbers are an accumulation of official broadcasts from Riot and the various co-streamers invited to feature the Valorant tournament on their respective channels.

Meanwhile, the North American LCS has been playing second fiddle in the European League for some time, and that trend continued in March as well.

With Team Liquid, TSM, and Cloud9 locking in their playoff spots, the LCS still couldn’t get as many viewers as the LEC.

During Spring Split 2021, the highest peak in viewers occurred during the match between Team Liquid and TSM, with 269,000 viewers.

With the two-division grand finale yet to take place, fans can safely assume that LEC and LCS audiences could surpass previous highs.
