Less than 24 hours after taking on their Russian rivals, the Americans are back on the ice at Rogers Place. On Boxing Day, they will end the triple series of matches of the night with a match against the Austrians.
This one certainly won’t have the same fanfare, intrigue, and glare as the Christmas Day affair – and Americans can be happy for that. The team came out and suffered a 5-3 loss to the Russians in a reunion of the top two contenders in Group B. It’s not a great way to start the tournament – although, a definite advantage, is that they made a comeback when down 4-1 late in the third – but there is still plenty of time to get back on track and it starts on Saturday night.
Will it be the easiest match? No, Austria is well rested; however, they don’t have the talent compared to Americans. What the Austrians have, however, is a star in Wild prospect Marco Rossi. He’s an offensive threat whenever he’s on the ice and could wreak havoc on American defense.
Here’s how to attend the 2021 IIHF World Junior Group B meeting between the United States and Austria.
